House on the Rock

Bible verse: Luke 6:27-36 July. 11. 2021.

Title: House on the Rock Sunday Morning Service

27. “But I tell you who hear me: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you,

28. bless those who curse you, pary for those who mistreat you.

29. If someone strikes you on one cheek, turn to him the other also. If someone takes your cloak, do not stop him from taking your tunic.

30. Give to everyone who asks you, and if anyone takes what belongs to you, do not demand it back.

31. Do to others as you would hae them do to you.

32. “If you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners love those who love them.

33. And if you do good to those who are good to you, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners do that.

34. And if you lend to those from whom you expect repayment, what credit is that to you? Even ‘sinners lend to ’sinners, expecting to be repaid in full.

35. But love your enemies, do good to them, and lend to them without expecting to get anything back. Then your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High, because he is kind to the ungrateful and wicked.

36. Be merciful, just as your Father is merciful.

48. He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built.

49. But the one who hears my words and does not put them not practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was complete.“

In July 2020, the revised Building Act enforcement ordinance was promulgated. The main focus of the this revised Act is that Korea is no longer an earthquake safety zone, which has been proven through the earthquakes in Gyeongju and Pohang. This is requiring thorough basic construction to prevent earthquakes.

Especially, the Building Act was strengthen since the Pilotti-style constructions(buildings with columns for parking lots on the first basement floor) are very vulnerable to earthquakes.

There are two main points in the revised Act in order to minimize damages in the event of earthquakes: strengthening the thickness of concrete construction, and requiring video filming to pass the inspection as it is impossible to see through concrete buried constructions.

The purpose of the government’s revision of the Act is to ensure the safety of the people from houses and building that are helplessly destroyed by earthquakes worldwide.

Yes. A house does not collapse if the foundation is strong when the house is being built. Not long ago, there was an apartment collapse in the United States. Such an apartment collapse in the U.S, the world’s most developed country, is ridiculous man-made disaster. This incident is giving us a lesson how important the foundation fo buildings is.
