Scripture : Luke 2:8~21 Title: The good news of great joy

8. 그 지경에 목자들이 밖에서 밤에 자기 양떼를 지키더니 
9. 주의 사자가 곁에 서고 주의 영광이 저희를 두루 비취매 크게 무서워하는지라 
10. 천사가 이르되 무서워 말라 보라 내가 온 백성에게 미칠 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 너희에게 전하노라 
11. 오늘날 다윗의 동네에 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨으니 곧 그리스도 주시니라 
8. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 
9. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 
10. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 
11. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord.           

  1910년8월 9일 한일합병(韓日合倂)이라는 명목으로 일본은 조선을 통째로 삼켰습니다.  당시 청년 이승만은 일본의 침략에 항거해 독립운동을 하다 감옥에 투옥되었습니다.  그 당시 청년 이승만은 배제학당의 학생이었는데 배제학당 교사로 있었던 선교사님이 감옥에 갖힌 청년 이승만에게 면회를 오게 되었습니다.
 On August 9th 1910 Japan colonized Chosun under the pretext of Korea-Japan Annexation. The young man of that time, SeunMan Lee resisted against the Japanese and went to jail for participating in the independence movement. He was actually a student of the Paejae school and one day his teacher visited Lee.

  사형선고를 받은 청년 이승만은 선교사님으로부터 복음을 듣고 이렇게 기도했습니다.  하나님 ! 이 나라를 일본 으로 부터 해방시켜 주시고  저의 영혼을 구원해 주옵소서!  그 순간 놀라운 일이 일어났습니다.  감옥안은 환한 빛으로 가득했고 그 빛이 비췬 이후 청년 이승만의 마음속에서 신기하리 만큼 평화가 가득했습니다. 그리고 또한 놀라운 일이 일어났습니다.  사형선고를 받은 청년 이승만에게 기적적으로 감옥에서 출옥하게 되었습니다.  그로부터 38년후 일본치하에 있던 조선이 해방되었습니다.
 He was sentenced to die but through his teacher who was a missionary delivered him the Gospel and Lee prayed, God please liberate this country from Japan and save me. Suddenly an amazing thing happened. A very bright light shined inside the jail room and then Lee felt very peaceful. Moreover, Lee experienced another miracle that he could be discharged from prison. And after 38 years Chosun was liberated from Japan.

    1948년 5월31일 오후2시에 대한민국을 건국하고 초대 대통령으로 이승만이 선출되었습니다. 당시 선출된 198명의 대한민국의 초대 국회의원들과 이승만 대통령은 감격적이고  놀라운 또 한번의 평화를 경험합니다.
  On May 31st 1948, at 2 PM Lee was chosen as the first president of the Republic of Korea. Moreover 198 people were chosen as the first members of the National Assembly. It was amazing and peaceful.

 사상 첫 국회가 열리는날  대통령 이승만은 가장먼저 국회의원 출신중 목사님인 이윤영 목사님에게 대한민국을 위해 기도해 달라고 정중하게 기도를 부탁했습니다.
 On the first day of the National Assembly, president Lee went to visit the prior pastor Lee Yoon Young who was then one of the members of the National Assembly, to ask him to pray for the country.

  대한민국의 초대 국회는 숙연해 졌고 해방의 기쁨과 국가의 주권을 찿게 해주신 하나님께 감사하며 하나님의 주권에 대한민국에 가득하기를 간절하게 기도했습니다.  당시 초대 국회는  하나님께서 주시는 평화로 가득했습니다.  할렐루야!
  The first National Assembly of the Republic of Korea was held in solemnity and they prayed thanking God for letting them to take back the right of our country. In those days, the National Assembly was very peaceful, the peace that came from God.

  오늘 저는 여러분들과 함께 본문의 말씀을 통해 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식 이라는 제목으로 말씀으로 나누려 합니다.  전쟁터와 같은 이시대에  하나님의 평강이 가득하기를 주님의 이름으로 축원드립니다.
  Today I would like to talk about the good news of great joy. Even the world is just like a war, I hope for you to be in peace in the name of Jesus.

  우리가 읽은 성경 본문 말씀에는 8~9절 말씀에는 초대 이승만 대통령이 일제치하의 고통속에 감옥 안에서 경험했던 동일한 일이 기록되고 있습니다 8~9절의 말씀을 함께 읽습니다. 
 The verses 8 to 9 that is today’s scripture is talking about the similar difficulties that the prior president Lee have had experienced. Let’s read verse 8 and 9.
 
8. 그 지경에 목자들이 밖에서 밤에 자기 양떼를 지키더니 
9. 주의 사자가 곁에 서고 주의 영광이 저희를 두루 비취매 크게 무서워하는지라 
8. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. 
9. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. 
  아멘 목자들이 한밤중에 밖에서 양떼를 지키고 있었습니다.  그때 환한 빛이 비춰 왔습니다.  순간 , 목자들은 크게 당황합니다.  갑자기 비췬 환한 빛으로 큰 ~ 두려움이 엄습해 왔고 이어 그 빛 가운데 천사가 나타난것입니다.
 Amen. The shepherds were in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. Then a bright light appeared in front of them. The shepherds were surprised and the were also terrified. But the light was an angel of the Lord.

 할렐루야!
 Halleujah

 여러분!  목자들이 갑자기 당한 예상밖의 일에 얼마나 당황 스러웠겠습니까 ?  손님 ! 당황하셨어요!!  갑자기 임한 환한 빛에  순간적으로 등장한 천사는  목자들에게는 당황스럽고 두려운 존재였습니다.
 People, how surprised would the shepherds have felt when something strange happened. The angel who suddenly appeared made them be terrified.

  환한 빛가운데 나타난 천사는 자신이 갑자기 목자들에게 나타난  이유를 자세히 말합니다 성경 본문 10절~11절을 보십시오. 다함께 읽습니다.
 And the angel who appeared like a bright light told them the reason why it appeared. Let’s read verse 10 and 11.

 아멘.
 Amen.

  영광중에 나타난 천사는 큰 기쁨의 소식을 전하기 위해서 나타났다고 말합니다.  당황하고 있던 목자들은  천사의 그말을 듣고 어리둥절 했습니다.  눈을 뜰 수 없는 환한 빛이 비췬것도 엄청난 일인데 , 그 환한 빛가운데 천사가 나타난 것입니다.
 But the angel said to them, “I bring you good news of great joy”. The shepherds didn't understand. A big bright light would have been also difficult to experience but they were in front of an angel.

  주의 사자라고 기록한 것을 영어성경에서는 천사로 기록하고 있습니다.  천사는 하나님의 사자로 하나님의 뜻을 전달하는 하나님의 심부름꾼입니다.  천사가 가져온 하나님의 전갈은 가히 놀랄만한 일이었습니다.
 The NIV called it an angel. An angel is the deliverer of God. The news that the angel told them was very surprising.

  첫째는 두려워하고 있는 목자들에게 “두려워 말라” 는 것입니다.  엄청난 영광중에 비췬 빛의 위용에 두려워하지 말라는 말입니다.  그리고 두 번째 멧세지는 “ 내가 온 백성에게 미칠  큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식”을 전한다고 했습니다.
 First, the angel told them to not be afraid. To not be afraid about the big bright light in front of them. Second, the angel told them “I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people”

  할렐루야! Hallelujah.

 천사는 하나님의 심부름꾼으로 하나님께서 이스라엘 백성들에게 전할 소식을 가지고 왔다고 했습니다.  그런데 참으로 놀라운 일은  오늘 본문의 천사가 전한 하나님의 멧세지를 표현한 표현법을 한번 보십시오.
 The angel said to them, I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people.  Here I want to highlight the part that the angel talks about God’s news.

 무엇이라고 기록되어 있습니까 ?  10절입니다
  What is that? It is written in verse 10

10. 천사가 이르되 무서워 말라 보라 내가 온 백성에게 미칠 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 너희에게 전하노라 
10. But the angel said to them, "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. 

 아멘 .
 Amen.

온 백성에게 미칠 , 큰  기쁨의 좋은 소식 이라고 했습니다.  소식은 소식인데 좋은 소식입니다.  뉴스는 뉴스인데 굿 뉴스 라고 했습니다.  또한 기쁨의 소식입니다. 슬픔의 소식이 아닙니다.  기쁨의 좋은 소식  기쁨의 굿 뉴스입니다.  거기에 알파 플러스 해서  작은 기쁨의 소식이 아닌 큰 great 기쁨의 좋은 소식입니다.
The angel said that it is a good news of great joy that will be for all the people. It is a good news. a news of great joy not of great sorrow. Good news. and plus alpha, a news of great joy.

 할렐루야!
 Hallelujah.

  천사가 가져온 소식은  슬픈 소식이 아니고 ,  작은 소식이 아니고 나쁜 소식이 아니라  ‘ 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식’ 이었습니다.
 The news that the angel brought wasn't a bad news but a very good news of great joy.

  설교자에게 있어서 , 가장 고심은 어떻게 하면 하나님의 뜻을 올바로 잘 전달하까 하는 것입니다.  한걸음 더 나아가  설교자는  하나님께서 자기 백성이 성도들에게 어떤 말슴을 전하는 것을 원하시는가 ? 하는 것입니다.
 As a pastor, I am concerned of how I am going to know God’s will and deliver it in the right way. Moreover, a preacher should think about what God wants me to deliver His words.

  여러분들은  하나님의 백성인데  저는 하나님의 말슴을 전달하는 전달자로써 하나님께서 여러분들에게 원하는 멧세지가 무엇인지 잘 파악하고 숙지하는 것이 매우 중요한 일입니다.
 You are God’s people and I am a preacher who must know God’s will, the message He wants me to deliver. It is very important.

  그래서 설교자는 늘 하나님의 음성에 귀를 기울여야만 하고  늘 깨어 있어야만 하는 이유가 여기에 있는 것입니다  하나님께서 여러분들에게 원하시는 멧세지가 있는데  그 멧세지를 정확하게 그리고 가감하지 않고 전하는 것이 매우 중요한 것입니다. 
 That is why preachers should always concentrate in listening to God’s voice and be aware of His voice. It is very important to deliver what God wants me to tell you accurately.

 그래서 영적으로 충만해야하는 이유가 여기에 있는 것입니다.  성도들이 목회자를 위해 기도해야하는 이유가 여기에 있습니다.  성도들이 목회자를 위해 기도해야하는 이유는 설교자를 통해 하나님의 뜻이 굴절되지 않고 올바로 전해져야 하기  때문입니다.  하나님께서 여러분들에게 주시고자 하는 말씀을 분변해서 충만한 가운데 증거하는 것입니다.
 This is the reason why we should be always filled with Holy Spirit. This is the reason why believers should pray for their pastors. Believers should pray for their pastors to make the pastors deliver the correct willings of God. Witnessing God by being filled with Holy Spirit.

  그래서 설교자는 하나님 앞에서 늘 마음을 조리면서 사는 것입니다.  하나님! 이번주일 어떤 말슴을 전하시기를 원하십니까 ?  하나님의 멧세지가 무엇입니까 ?  라고하며 마음을 집중하는 것입니다. 그래서 설교자는 주일이 끝나고 나면  월요일부터 긴장합니다. 
 This is the reason why a preacher live anxious when is in front of God. God what do you want me to deliver this week. What is your message. So a preacher usually becomes tense after from Mondays.

  하나님께서 다음 주일날 성도들에게 말씀하시고 하는 멧세지가 무엇인지 !  그 멧세지를 충만한 영감으로 붙잡아야 하기 때문입니다.  세상에 한눈이 팔려있고 집중하지 않으면  놓치기 실상입니다.  그렇게 되면 설교시간에 엉뚱한 소리를 하게 되는 것입니다.  성도들이 설교자를 위해 기도해야 할 이유 바로 여기에 있습니다.  설교에 집중할 수 있도록 모든 힘을 집약하는 것입니다.
 What is the message that God wants me to say next week for the believers. Preachers must catch the message. And when preachers pay attention to the world is hard to catch it. and if that happens preachers can say the wrong thing. This is why believers should pray for their pastors. To concentrate in the sermon.

  목자들은  엄청난 영광중에 나타난  천사가 전한 ‘ 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식’이 궁금했습니다.  천사는 그 입으로 두려워하고 있는  목자들에게 “두려워 말라”  그리고 연이어 ‘ 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식’소식을 전달 한다고 했습니다.  "Do not be afraid. I bring you good news of great joy

 The shepherds were really curious about the good news of great joy. The angel told them to not be afraid and told them that the angel was there to deliver good news of great joy.

할렐루야!  오늘 저와 여러분들에게도  천사가 영광중에 나타나  이러한 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식이 들려오기를 주님의 이름으로 축원드립니다.
Hallelujah. I hope today that the glory of God appears in front of you in the name of Jesus.

  하나님은 저와 여러분들이 가진 마음의 소원을 이루어 주시는 분이십니다.  빌립보서 (Philippians) 2장 13절을 함께 읽습니다.
  God works for the hope in your heart. Let’s read Philippians 2:13
13. 너희 안에서 행하시는 이는 하나님이시니 자기의 기쁘신 뜻을 위하여 너희로 소원을 두고 행하게 하시나니 
13. for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose.
 
  아멘 .  그렇다면  목자들의 마음에는 어떤 마음이 있었을까요? 목자들은 자신들에게 주어진 , 양들을 돌보는 일에 늘 충실했습니다.  오늘 본문을 보니까 목자들이 양을 돌보되 어떻게 돌보았는가를 8절에 잘 기록하고 있습니다.
 Amen. Now what would the hope of the shepherds were? They were living out in the fields watching over their flocks. And in verse 8 we can read how they took care of their flocks.

 8절을 함께 읽습니다.
 Let’s read verse 8.

8. 그 지경에 목자들이 밖에서 밤에 자기 양떼를 지키더니 
8. And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night.


 아멘  목자들은 밖에서 밤에 자기 양떼를 지키더니 라고 했습니다.  오늘 목자들이 양을 돌보는 지역은 중동지역 즉 사막과 동일한 지역입니다.  밤과 낮의 일교차가 0~50도 에 육박하는 지역입니다.
 Amen. The shepherds were keeping watch over their flocks at night. The field where the shepherds lived is the area of the Middle East were the difference between the day and night goes over 50 degrees.

  낮에는 그 따가운 뙤약볕에 노출되고  또한 밤에는  0도에 육박하는 그런 상황에 노출되는 것입니다.  최근 아침 저녁의 일교차가 10도이상 차이가 납니다.  아침저녁으로는 추위를 느낄정도입니다. 
 During the day the weather gets very hot and at night the weathers get cold and goes over 0 degrees. Recently we are experiencing the same thing, the daily temperature range is 10 degrees. It is cold in the early mornings and at night.

  그렇다면  오늘 본문의 배경지가 되는 사막지역인 중동지역의 일교차가 어느정도인지 우리는 체감하지 않아도 상상만으로도 느낄수 있습니다.  매우 추울 것이다를 넘어 , 얼어 죽을수도 있다. 라고 가정할수 있습니다  그런데 실제로 그렇게 얼어죽는 사람이 있습니다.
 Then you would know how huge is the temperature range in the Middle East deserts. You can also die there and in reality a lot of people freeze to death.

  몇 년전 전세계 사람들을 감동으로 몰아넣는 멜로 영화 타이타닉을 보셨을 것입니다.  수천명의 관광객을 태우고 미국으로 행하던  타이타닉이 침몰하자 수많은 사람은 탈출행렬이 이어졌고 결국 배는 침몰했습니다. 
 Years ago you would have watched the melomovie Titanic that took thousands of people on its ship to go to the US and went under the sea. Thousands of people tried to escape but the ship finally sink.

  그런데 사상 초유의 사망자가 속출했는데 그이유는 바닷물의 온도 때문입니다.  당시 바다는 영상10도 내외의 기온을 유지하고 있었고 우리 사람의 평균몸의 온도가 38도 내외이니 , 체감이 급감되었고 이 때문에 수많은 인명을 앗아간 원인이 된것입니다. 
  Unprecedented number of people died and it was because of the cold water. The sea was 10 degrees and the average temperature of a man is 38 degrees, and when we think the temperature change of our bodies, we can realize why thousands of people died in that accident.

  오늘 목자가 한밤에 밖에서 양떼를 지킨다는 의미는 , 오늘 우리에게 이세상에 사는 동안  자신의 일에 충실하며 맡은바 사명을 책임충성하며 살아가는 성도들을 의미합니다.  하나님께서 지사충성(志士忠誠)하며 사는 하나님의 백성인 셈입니다.  목자들이 밖에서 한밤에 양떼를 지켰다는 것은 생명을 걸고 지키는 것과 동일합니다.  생명을 잃어버릴수도 있는 상황입니다.  일교차가 급감하는데 , 체감온도가 살인적인데 그럼에도 불구하고 그들은  한밤에 밖에서 양떼를 지켰다는 것입니다. 
 So when it comes to keeping watch over their flocks at night is the same when a believer lives a life of faith loyal to God working for God and being responsible of its job. The one that lives being loyal to God. When it comes o keeping watch over their flocks at night means they put their lives there. They could loose their life. because of the huge temperature range. But they were in fields o keeping watch over their flocks at night.

  성도들이 하나님께서 내게 맡기운 사명을 감당하기 위해 생명을 바쳐 충성하는 것입니다.  그런데  목자들의 마음에는  그런 어려움도 감래하면서 , 사명을 감당했던 중요한 목표 , 사명감당의 목표가 있는데 그것이 무엇일까요?  생명을 걸면서  , 인내하면서 모든 것을 감래하면서 그들이  한밤에 밖에서 양떼를 지킨 것은 ,  주님을 초림을 기대렸다는 것입니다
 It is the same as a belivers works hard to do what God told that person to do. Pastors do handle difficulties to live as God called them, thinking about the purpose. what would the purpose be? To putting our lives, to have patience and handle everything, to protect their flocks and wait for God.

  주님이 오시기만을 학수고대(鶴首苦待) 하면 기다리고 있었던 것입니다.  언제 주님이 다시 오실는지 , 한밤중에도 한낮에도 학수하며 고대하는 것입니다. 오매불망(寤寐不忘) 언제 오시려나 기다리는 것입니다.  기약도 없이 기다리는 것입니다.
 They waited God to come back, They didn't know if Jesus will come again, but they waited night and day. They waited night and day for Jesus, without knowing the time.

  오직 주님만 바라보면서 기다리는 것입니다.  주님께서 다시오기리만을 기다리는 것입니다.  왜입니까 ? 주님이 오시면 모든일이 종식되기 때문입니다.  주님이 오시면 세상의  역사가  , 세속의 일반적인 역사가 끝이 나기 때문입니다.  이세상의 미련을 둘 수 없는 이유가 바로 여기에 있습니다. 
 They only thought about Jesus. Waiting for Jesus to come back. why is that? it is because when Jesus comes everything will end. When Jesus comes back, the history of the world, the history of this world ends. This is the reason why we don't need to have attachment to this world.

  천사가 나타나 전한 소식은 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식이었습니다.  목자들의 마음속에는 메시아 대망사상으로 가득차 있었습니다.  그들은 메시야되는 예수님이 오시면 모든 일이 끝난다고 믿고 있었습니다.
 The angel appeared to deliver the good news of great joy. Pastors also have the hope for the Messiah. They believe that everything will end when Jesus comes back.

  목자들의 마음속에 숨겨진 그 마음을 , 그 소원을 전능하신 하나님은 아셨습니다.  그리고 오늘 영광중에 천사를 보내어  큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 전합니다. 우리 다함께 11절 말씀을 읽습니다.
 Almighty God knew about the hidden hope of the pastors. and He sent an angel to told them about the good news of great joy. Let’s read verse 11.

11. 오늘날 다윗의 동네에 너희를 위하여 구주가 나셨으니 곧 그리스도 주시니라 
11. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is Christ the Lord. 
 
아멘.
Amen.
 
  마태복음이 시작하는 1장이 서두를 보면 ‘아브라함과 다윗의 자손 예수 그리스도의 세계“라 하고 시작합니다.  메시야 되신 예수님은  다윗의 혈통을 통해 탄생할 것을 이미 구약성경을 예언했고 , 그 예언대로 예수님은 탄생하신 것입니다.
  The book of Matthew starts saying ‘This is the genealogy of Jesus the Messiah’. The Old Testament already predicted that Jesus the Messiah will come through David, and as the prophesy Jesus was born.

  메시야되신 예수님의 탄생은 “ 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식”입니다.  예수님께 이땅에 오심으로 죄로 말미암아 허덕이는 사람 사이에 화목의 제물이 되셔서 하나님과 원수된 것을 허물어 버렸습니다.
 The good news of great joy was the birth of Jesus the Messiah. Jesus became the sacrifice for peace between people struggling due sins and knocked down the wall between God.

엡2:16. 또 십자가로 이 둘을 한 몸으로 하나님과 화목하게 하려 하심이라 원수 된것을 십자가로 소멸하시고
16. and in this one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility.
 
  우리 인간은 죄로 말미암아  하나님께서 주신 평화를 잃어 버렸습니다.  세상 사는 것 자체가 고통입니다.  그러나  영광중에 나타난 천사는  목자들에게 큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식을 전합니다.
 Man lost peace that God provided due sin. Living this world is just hard. But an angel delivered to the shepherds the great good news.

  그 소식은 평강이 없던 인류에게 평강의 왕으로 예수 그리스도께서 오셨다는 것입니다 예수님께서 오셔서  하나님과 원수되었던 죄의 담을 모두 헐어 버렸다는 것입니다.  예수님의  화평이십니다.  큰 기쁨의 좋은 소식으로 오신 예수님으로 말미암아  우리에게 영생이 존재하는 것입니다 이귀한 깨달음이 있기를 주님의 이름으로 축원드립니다.
 That news that Jesus came as a king to this world to provide peace knocked down all the wall built by seen. Jesus is peace. He was the good news that provide us an eternal life. I hope that all of you realized about the good news in the name of Jesus.
